Reborn, or Nashville Nights
By Sean Hastings
November, 2009
Nashville was one of those places in the South where the old and new blended together into something found only in that one spot. Red-brick buildings, darkened by years of wear and weather, advertised live country music and BBQ restaurants via neon signs and stood in front of a thirty-three story skyscraper with AT&T’s logo at the very top. It was the tallest building in the entire state of Tennessee. The two towers that rose over its logo, like a pair of cropped ears, and darkened glass windows were why some locals called it the “Batman building.”

Arin stared through a riflescope and prepared to kill a member of the organization that once held her captive. This man never did anything to her; she had never seen him, before. This was a war-both played a small role on opposing sides.
Listen to what people say
Hear what they don't.
Recollect what you have learned
Think about what you still haven't.
Advice given is always a story of past mistakes.
Tales of success oftentimes hide
When the narrator failed.
Messages of morality or efficiency are often inspired
By the teller's lack thereof.
Words are a map
To the sayer's unsaid truth.
